Maple Cross JMI School, in Denham Way, will be hosting a special maths information evening on Wednesday, April 6.

RESIDENTS in search of leisure pursuits with like-minded people are invited to attend a meeting about a proposed new University of the Third Age (U3A).

The U3A is aimed at people who are no longer in full time employment who wish to share their interest and learn for pleasure.

TEST your general knowledge by signing up for a charity quiz night in Croxley Green this Saturday (26).

The popular annual Croxley Green Parish Council Chairman's Quiz, this year in aid of Harefield Dogs Trust, takes place at St Oswald's Church in Malvern Way, at 7pm.

TIME is running out for parents and carers across Hertfordshire to apply for nursery places.

Anyone with children born between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008, has until April 1 to submit their application.

More than 9,000 online applications have already been received.

CHILDREN can enjoy an afternoon of fun including craft activities and painting in Northwood next Saturday (26).

Northwood Methodist Church, in Oaklands Gate, will host the event, suitable for youngsters aged five to 10.

The activities will be themed around the Biblical story of Abraham and Sarah, and the couple's wish for children.

A CHARITY variety show combining music, drama and comedy comes to Rickmansworth on March 30.

Live 'N' Local will feature performances from the Royal Masonic School for Girls Choir and drama students at West Herts College.

They will be joined by funnyman, Phil Butler, a regular at the Giggle Inn Comedy Club in Watford, and popular upcoming band the Cautionaries.

The show will raise funds for the Peace Hospice, which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families in south west Hertfordshire.

A SPECIAL meeting about whether a school must sack 25 staff and lower pupil numbers, which was due to take place on Wednesday (9), has now been cancelled.

The Gazette reported last week how a decision had been delayed on whether St John's School, in Potter Street, Northwood Hills, would be forced to make the cut backs, after breaching planning guidelines.

THE history of Northwood Headquarters will be on the agenda at the Northwood Residents Association (NRA)'s 45th annual general meeting.

Staff from the NATO base will be guest speakers at the event, which takes place at Oaklands Gate Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 15.

NORTHWOOD Choral Society will host its annual spring concert this Saturday (12) at 7.30pm.

The Society will perform Vivaldi's Gloria; The Last Night of the Proms; Albinoni's Oboe Concerto and Telemann's Trumpet Concerto.

The event takes place at Holy Trinity Church in Rickmansworth Road.

THE 2011 census and recycling will be on the agenda at the next Rickmansworth local area forum on Wednesday night (2).

The meeting takes place at 7.30pm at St John's School in Berry Lane.
