Ross Ashmore, 54, of Valley Road, is currently working on an ambitious three-year project to paint all 450 stations within the Underground network.

As reported in the Gazette, a record-breaking 30,000 people attended this year's two-day event, the 57th of its kind, on May 21 and 22.

Children and adults alike enjoyed entertainment including performances by 20 bands, fairground rides, a petting zoo, dozens of stalls, a canal boat display and tug of war.

Councillor Chris Whately-Smith (Lib Dem, Langleybury), replaces outgoing chairman, Ron Spellen, after being elected at an annual council meeting last night (24).

Mr Whately-Smith has been TRDC's leisure and community portfolio holder for several years, as well as a member of the planning committee.

EASTBURY Residents' Association (ERA) will host their Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 6.

County and district councillors and neighbourhood police have been invited to answer questions about the local area.

A CHARITY summer fete organised by residents of a sheltered housing scheme in Rickmansworth takes place next Saturday (4).

The event, hosted by pensioners at Moneyhill Court, in Dellwood, will feature stalls with nearly new items, cakes, a tombola and much more.

Money raised will towards Arthritis Care Watford & District Branch, which encompasses Rickmansworth and is run by volunteers.

The fete takes place outside Moneyhill Court from 11am - 4pm.

This is the final week for entries into the ninth annual competition, run jointly by the Uxbridge Gazette and Leader Series, and Uxbridge College.

The Local Hero campaign acknowledges the hard work, dedication and determination shown by people who live, work or volunteer in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

The hugely popular annual event, organised by 1st Northwood Scout Group, took place at their head quarters in Northwood Way on Saturday (21).

THE axe is set to fall on an aged Oak tree blamed for causing structural damage to a property in Northwood.

The overgrown roots of the tree, which is between 80 and 100 years old, are said to be responsible for subsidence and cracks in the walls of a chalet bungalow in Links Way.

An application to fell the protected tree, which stands in the Copsewood Estate Area of Special Local Character, was marked for urgent discussion by Hillingdon Council, amid fears of a sizeable compensation claim by the home owners, who have put their property on the market.
