CHURCHES in Northwood and Northwood Hills will unite with thousands of women across the globe for a day of prayer next Friday (March 4).
The annual Women's World Day of Prayer is organised and led by Christian women on the first Friday of March.
Every year, the theme is developed by women from a different country, with Chile leading this year's event.
A service will take place at Emmanuel Church, in Church Road, with other local churches taking part including Holy Trinity, Northwood Methodist, Northwood Hills Evangelical Church (Fairfield), Northwood Hills United Reformed Church and St Edmund's.
It starts at 10.30am and coffee will be served from 10am.
A PIANO recital showcasing the work of four esteemed classical composers takes place at St Edmund's Church in Pinner Road next Saturday (6).
The concert, by musician Philip Gammon, will feature music by Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt and Tchaikovsky.

THE results of a consultation on five potential locations for a new secondary school in Three Rivers have today (21) been published, with Maple Cross sites proving popular.
Last February the Gazette reported how Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) earmarked £82.5million to increase school places where pupil numbers have risen, and plug a projected deficit of 259 places by 2016.
Five possible sites were selected out of a list of 30, put together by HCC and Three Rivers District Council.
Residents were asked to mark their preferences during the two-month consultation, entitled Site Allocations 'Issues and Options', which ended on January 14 this year.

DESPERATE requests for debt advice in Three Rivers have doubled in the past four years, according to the Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB).
CAB district manager, Marion Seneschall, said the Rickmansworth branch, based at Northway House in the High Street, has received 11,000 calls in the past year alone.
Speaking at the Three Rivers District Council pensioners' forum on February 11, Ms Seneschall told a 60-strong audience that the majority of enquiries were debt-related.

Mill End Youth Club, based at William Penn Leisure Centre in Shepherds Lane, is offering basketball, badminton, table tennis, arts and crafts and kwik-cricket for children aged nine and above.

ENTRY is now open for a pancake race in Rickmansworth to raise cash for charity.
The hugely-popular annual event, which takes places in the High Street on March 8, is held in aid of Watford Mencap, which works with people with learning disabilities and their families and carers in South West Hertfordshire.
For the past two years, pupils from Rickmansworth School in Scots Hill, Croxley Green, have claimed victory in the race.

A FARMERS market and craft fair to raise cash for charity will take place in Mill End this Saturday (19).
The event will feature a selection of locally-sourced produce including beef, pork, gammon, cheeses, cakes, fruit and vegetables, honey and jams.
There will also be a wide variety of handmade crafts including jewellery and handbags.
