kimfish2.JPGA FORMER Northwood school pupil has turned her back on a high-flying television career to set up a quirky gifts website in memory of her late mother.

Kim Fishman, who attended St Helen's School in Eastbury Road, launched www.funkyhoney.co.uk on Monday (27), which would have been her mother, Angela's 58th birthday.

After Mrs Fishman died from pancreatic cancer in September last year, Kim, 28, who spent six years as a producer for BBC shows including Newsnight and Holby City, left her job to focus on a new challenge.

The hugely popular event, the ninth since its inception in 2002, started and finished at Merchant Taylors' School in Northwood, with 785 runners taking part to raise cash for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre (LJMC), based at Mount Vernon Hospital.

D1T1 - Shakeel Ahmad.jpgA CONVICTED conman from Northwood who failed to repay a record £92.3million in profits made from crimes has been given an extra 10 years in jail.

Shakeel Ahmad (pictured) of Astons Road, together with Syed Ahmed, of Iver Heath, are both currently serving seven-year prison terms, and were ordered to pay back the mammoth £184.6million within just two months, or face another decade behind bars.

Ahmad, 38, and Ahmed, 37, were members of a 21-strong criminal gang who were sentenced for plotting what Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) described as 'fraud on a massive scale'.

EMERGENCY services were called to Northwood this morning (24) after a man collapsed in Green Lane.

The man, who is in his 50s, was found the road, at the junction with Watford Road, just before 11am this morning.

One ambulance crew, called by a member of the public, attended the scene and the man was taken to Watford General Hospital.

He is not believed to have suffered serious injuries.

The popular event, which first took place 28 years ago in 1982, was held on Sunday, September 19 to raise cash for the hospice and palliative care centre, based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.

Participants had the choice of a three-mile stroll, seven-mile hike or 12-mile trek with beautiful countryside views, taking in Moor Park and Rickmansworth Golf Clubs and the Grand Union Canal.

Kelly Herlihy, a human resources co-ordinator based at the company's head office in Rickmansworth, was selected to appear a new advertising campaign which aired for the first time last Wednesday (15), during a European Champions League Football match.

TIME is running out to register online for the Moor Park 10k, in aid of the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre based at Mount Vernon Hospital.

The run takes place at 3pm on Sunday, September 26, starting and ending at Merchant Taylors' School in Sandy Lodge, Northwood. A series of junior fun runs begin at noon.
