A 21-YEAR-OLD from Northwood Hills has been jailed for going equipped for theft with a pair of bolt cutters.

Jason Lee Winskill, of Alandale Drive, was found with the bolt cutters in Mint Close, Uxbridge, on September 28 this year.

He was handed a six-week prison sentence, based on his criminal record, at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Thursday (October 21).

HILLINGDON Council has pledged to investigate the introduction of a 20mph speed limit and a new parking scheme in a Northwood Hills street after more than half of the residents signed a petition.

Hilliard Road has become beset with traffic problems as there are few garages and driveways.

Residents presented a petition on Wednesday (13) asking the council to look into a new speed limit and residents' parking zone, with 74 people - 52 per cent - signing it.

Jennifer Warren, 60, of Stanley Road, Northwood Hills, attracted up to 300 birds, mainly pigeons, to her home each day by putting out sackfuls of bird seed, prompting frustrated neighbours to complain to the council.

UP TO 20 cars in Northwood Hills were damaged by vandals last night (7).

Cars parked in and around Briarwood Drive, Sailsbury Road, Ferndown and Fore Street were targeted between 9.30pm and 11pm.

Police Sergeant Ian Stacey said: "The number of cars being damaged in a single evening is very rare for Northwood Hills and Hillingdon in general."

A THIEF who took £380 worth of goods from a man in Northwood Hills has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Christopher James Robert Bergin, 21, of Essex, stole a sat-nav, cup holder and £10 in coins from the victim in Joel Street, Northwood Hills, on April 9 this year.

He was also ordered to pay the victim £200 compensation when he was sentenced at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on October 4.

Sergeant David Wright, who works for Northwood Hills Safer Neighbourhood Team, based in Joel Street, says he has been left broken-hearted after Diane, 49, was killed in a collision near Baydon in Wiltshire, on her way home from work.

Police are currently investigating the accident, which took place on Thursday, September 23.

Paul Gardner (pictured), an employee at the Templeton Centre, the Harrow and Hillingdon branch of the Alzheimer's Society in Joel Street, completed the 13.1 mile half marathon in just two hours and 15 minutes.

THE owner of a bar in Northwood Hills has accused Hillingdon Council of acting like 'a nanny state' after being given a hefty fine for noise pollution.

Woody's Corner Bar, in Joel Street, was ordered to pay more than £3,000 after licensee, Alan Coleshill, was convicted of causing a noise nuisance, following an investigation by the council.

The bar was initially reported to the council's out of hours noise team officers in August last year, when neighbours complained about loud music.
