Five-year-old James Cassidy, a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital, was invited to the mini-premiere of Disney Pixar's new release, Brave.

A VINTAGE fair will raise money for Michael Sobell House.

The event is returning for a second year on Sunday (July 8) on the lawn of Mount Vernon Hospital, Rickmansworth, where the hospice is based .

Jazz and swing dancers will entertain the crowd and there will be a display of classic cars, as well as a fashion show from designers The Joy of Vintage, complete with clothes from across several eras.

school olympics.jpgYOUNGSTERS from four schools teamed up to hold their own mini Olympic Games.

Hillside Junior School, Northwood Way, Northwood, hosted the event on Wednesday and Thursday last week.

They were joined by pupils from Harlyn, Frithwood and Holy Trinity primary schools.

The pupils took part in seven events, including blind football and hurdles.

roy clarridge.jpgA SPORTS volunteer from Northwood will hold the Olympic flame aloft next month.

Roy Clarridge is one of the people chosen to carry the torch along its route through Greater London. He will pick it up as it makes its way through Henley-on-Thames on July 10.

Sports England nominated him in acknowledgement of 50 years of commitment to his running club, Thames Valley Harriers. He was a key member of the club's road running teams and has supported dozens of young athletes.

It is the third year in a row that the organisation's charitable arm has given to the hospice, in Rickmansworth Road.

INSTALLING a large mirror was one of the suggestions put forward by neighbours who want action taken at an 'unsafe' junction.

More than 50 people living in Woodridge Way, Northwood, signed a petition which was submitted to Hillingdon Council.

It complained that visibilty at the junction with Sandy Lodge Way was very limited and many drivers had experienced near-misses.

The group of 10 from Mount Vernon Dental Specialists (MVDS) in Rickmansworth Road are among the first batch of people to sign up for the event, which will be held in September.

They are neighbours of the Linda Jackson Macmillan Centre (LJMC), which the run raises money for.

Garden grabbing protest web.jpgA GLUT of bids by developers to build on garden land in Northwood and Ruislip has angered homeowners who fear the character of their neighbourhoods could be changed forever.

Several applications have been submitted so far this year, either to build new homes directly on to garden land, or to demolish old properties and replace them with bigger ones.

TWO people from Northwood are among a group of six charged with human trafficking.

Shashi Kala Obhrai, 53, an optician, and Balram Kumar Obhrai, 58, described by police as a computer entrepreneur, are accused of trafficking within the UK for exploitation and threats to kill.

Shashi Obhrai also faces a further charge of ABH.

A shopkeeper has lambasted the authority for not installing the signs permanently in Pinner Road, Northwood, before the incident which killed fellow business owner Zakiyuddin Mamujee (pictured) last month.
