IN RESPONSE to feedback from our readers, the Uxbridge Gazette is boosting its continued coverage of Hillingdon borough.

After listening to your views, a new Ruislip, Eastcote and Northwood edition of the Gazette, encompassing Northwood Hills, will be available from next Wednesday (6).

The final Northwood & Rickmansworth and Ruislip & Eastcote editions of the Gazette will be published tomorrow (29).

The Gazette will continue to cover Northwood in its entirety.

However, we will no longer feature news about Rickmansworth and the surrounding areas, including Three Rivers District Council.

GOLFERS defied wet and windy weather to raise £18,000 for a Northwood hospice.

Some 25 teams of golfing enthusiasts - 100 people in total - took part in the 10th annual Michael Sobell House (MSH) Golf Day on Thursday (24).

REINDEERweb.jpgRESIDENTS in Northwood have been dealt a bitter blow after controversial plans to build flats on the former Reindeer pub were approved.

The Gazette told last week how Excelsior Homes applied to build a multi-storey block of 12 flats on the site, in Maxwell Road.

The scheme was agreed by Hillingdon Council's North Planning Committee on Thursday (23), despite opposition. It is subject to a number of conditions, including an agreement that off site road works will be completed.

Dr Paul Strickland OBE (pictured left) is stepping down as honorary medical director and board trustee after setting up his major scanning centre for people with cancer and other serious diseases.

The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth Road, last year celebrated its 25th anniversary and 200,000th scan, using technology paid for through generous voluntary donations.

Rahul Divan, of Barnhill Road, Hayes, Ajay Singh Ahluwalia, of Grosvenor Road, Northwood, and Prikshat Sharma, of Laurel Lane, West Drayton, worked at the factory in a warehouse in Tatchbrook Road, Southall.

It was set up by Mirza Baig, who was identified as the ringleader of the illegal operation during the trial.
