Students from Ruislip High School, Sidmouth Drive, Ruislip, joined Mayor of Hillingdon Councillor Mary O'Connor for a tour of Bishops Wood Hospital, Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.

They then delighted patients and staff with a performance of festive songs.

The event was a chance for many of the private hospital's teams to celebrate together with a glass of mulled wine and mince pies.

CAMPAIGNERS who pledged to fight for the future of a Northwood Hills doctor's surgery have been dealt a bitter blow after it was revealed it will be closed by the end of this month.

More than 10,000 patients at the Mountwood surgery branch in Northwood Health Centre in Neal Close, Acre Way, will be affected by the closure.

They will be transferred to the surgery's other branch, at Mount Vernon Hospital, Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.

THE WAR Memorial Trust has backed a call by Northwood residents to bring a neglected memorial hospital back to life.

Northwood and Pinner Cottage Hospital, in Pinner Road, closed in 2008 after Hillingdon Primary Care Trust declared it not fit for purpose.

A later announcement that it could wither for the next 10 years sparked outcry among residents.

The Trust said that making the necessary repairs, including asbestos removal and other vital works, were not a priority.

Dr Paul Strickland OBE (pictured left) is stepping down as honorary medical director and board trustee after setting up his major scanning centre for people with cancer and other serious diseases.

The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth Road, last year celebrated its 25th anniversary and 200,000th scan, using technology paid for through generous voluntary donations.

MICHAEL Sobell House hospice will host its 10th anniversary Golf Day in Northwood on Thursday (23).

Bob Arthy (pictured), 69, has been receiving treatment at the hospital's cancer centre, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, since he was diagnosed with the disease in 2008.

More than 150 men undertook a test at the free screening event, arranged by the Friends of Prostate Cancer (FOPS), which was founded by Mr Arthy.
