saira.jpgA YOUNG ballerina from Northwood is set to pirouette and plié in front of thousands of people this week, as part of a production by the English Youth Ballet.

Saira Mashru (pictured), 12, of The Fairway, will take to the stage with aspiring dancers from across the capital, joined by professionals, to perform traditional ballet, The Nutcracker.

The show, famed for its musical score by classical composer, Tchaikovsky, will open the first autumn season at the newly-built Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, this Friday (5) and Saturday (6).

STUDENTS at Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth are celebrating after more than half achieved A* and A grades in their GCSE exams.

Fifty eight per cent were awarded A* and As, with 100 per cent achieving A* - C grades.

JessSisley1.JPGA TEENAGER who juggled school work with caring for her disabled mother, father and brother is celebrating excellent A-level results.

Jessica Sisley, 17, a student at Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth, achieved three As in history, politics and classics after taking her exams one year early.

She now plans to read history and politics at the University of York in September.

GIRLS at the Royal Masonic School in Rickmansworth are looking forward to a bright future after achieving record A-level grades.

Some 20 per cent of year 13 pupils at the school, in Rickmansworth Park, gained the new A* grade, while 80 per cent achieved A* - B grades, and the overall pass rate was 100 per cent.

Headmistress, Diana Rose, said: "The results are absolutely outstanding and all of our girls have got into university, with the majority securing their first choices.

"We are an inclusive school and not driven by league tables, we just encourage our girls to believe they have it within them to succeed, and our results are always consistent."
