Scouts' card scheme 'a success'

Posted by Jenny Gray on Jan 12, 12 04:49 PM in Good Causes

Scouts.jpgSCOUTS from Ruislip, Eastcote and Northwood carried out their most successful Christmas card collection scheme to date.

Explorer Scouts, aged 14 to 18, hand delivered Christmas cards in the area throughout December.

They charged 20 pence a card and picked them up from various shops and outlets.

David Horchover, spokesman for the district, said the number of cards was up by a third on last year and more money was raised to go towards scouting activities.

He added: "Well over 30 Explorer scouts and scout leaders helped in this massive exercise which is increasing in popularity each Christmas time.

"The whole operation will again be run in the build-up to Christmas 2012 and many more collection points will be set up in Ruislip and Eastcote so that even more folk can take advantage of the simple-to-use scheme which brings huge benefits to all."

It was the third year running that the scheme was carried out.
