Hospital donates medical supplies
A NORTHWOOD hospital donated vital equipment to remote parts of Kenya.
Bishops Wood Hospital, Rickmansworth Road, collected 45 stethoscopes and other medical supplies worth hundreds of pounds for Malindi General Hospital in the south-east of the African country.
The gift was organised with the help of charity The Kenyan Aid project and dropped off in person by one of their volunteers, and a former patient of the private Northwood hospital, Alan Brereton.
He said: "Donations such as those made by Bishops Wood Hospital are vital in improving the healthcare provision for some of Kenya's most remote communities.
"Unlike many charities the Kenyan Aid Project personally delivers and distributes donations. This approach makes sure that any donations are put directly into the hands of people who need it the most, impacting their lives immediately and directly.
"We appreciate the support from Bishops Wood Hospital and on behalf of the Kenyan Aid Project I would like to thank everyone at the hospital who made this donation possible."
Rob Love, executive director of Bishops Wood Hospital, said: "Bishops Wood Hospital is delighted to be in a position where we are able to support charities and hospitals in developing nations.
"Alan is a patient with whom we have all grown very fond and after hearing about the work he undertakes for the Kenyan Aid Project we were only too happy to help.
"We very much hope that this equipment will help improve the lives of people living in Kenya and would like to thank Alan for his work delivering the equipment on behalf of the Kenyan Aid Project and Bishops Wood Hospital."
