xmas lights for web.jpg NORTHWOOD Hills is twinkling its way into the festive season after its Christmas lights switch-on.

Schoolchildren, residents and the borough's Mayor were among the crowd that gathered in Joel Street to mark the occasion on Saturday, organised by Northwood Hills Resident's Association.

The combined choirs of Northwood, Haydon, Harlyn and St John's schools got people into the Christmas spirit with various festive songs and the St John's School's brass group also provided musical entertainment.

The Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Mary O'Connor switched on the illuminations,
including lights on a 20ft tall tree sponsored by St John's School.

The Namaste Lounge provided space for the entertainers to get ready and the nearby William Jolle pub offered mulled wine, homemade mince pies and the venue for the raffle to be drawn.
