Northwood Waitrose applies to extend alcohol licence
SUPERMARKET Waitrose has applied to extend the alcohol licence of its Northwood store.
The shop, in Green Lane, already has a licence to sell alcohol between 8am and 11pm. This covers its opening hours of 7.30am to 9pm weekdays, 7.30am to 8pm on Saturdays and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
It wants to extend its licence to an hour earlier at 7am.
A spokesman for the store said the application was a matter of "standardising opening hours across all our shops" and the sale of alcohol would still be limited to opening hours.
The store has also applied to extend its licence to play recorded music in the same way, so that it can play music for employees at special occasions.
The licensing sub committee North will meet to consider the application on September 16.
It has received one objection in the form of an email sent to the licensing committee by ward councillor Richard Lewis (Con).
He said he did not understand why the store would want to extend its licence by an hour and feared residents living in nearby Murray Road would be affected by noise from staff, visiting customers and deliveries.
He added that if the application was granted the committee should look at imposing conditions about delivery times.
The decision meeting will take place in committee room five of Hillingdon Civic Centre at 2pm.
Waitrose said its deliveries will not be affected by its music or alcohol license.
