More than 1,000 people attend giant scout jumble sale in Northwood
MORE than 1,000 bargain hunters descended on Northwood to rummage around a giant jumble sale.
The hugely popular annual event, organised by 1st Northwood Scout Group, took place at their head quarters in Northwood Way on Saturday (21).
The jumble sale, which was officially opened by the new Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Mary O'Connor, featured an array of stalls selling bicycles, furniture, gardening equipment, toys, clothes, books and a tombola.
Public relations executive for Ruislip, Eastcote and Northwood Scouts, David Horchover, said: "Some suggest the days of the jumble sale are over but this event attracted peopled from far and wide.
"The weather was kind, warm and sunny, and people were queueing from early in the morning before the gates opened at 2pm.
"There were 160 helpers and I joked with one that there were more books on sale than there were in the British Library!
"Congratulations to scout group members and volunteers who put on an amazing and successful event every year, to raise the necessary funds for essential new equipment."
