Globefireweb.jpgA BAR in Rickmansworth has been gutted by a fire for the second time in less than three months.

A crew of 31 firefighters in six fire engines raced to The Globe Bar, above Villa Romana restaurant in High Street, at about 2.24am this morning (6), to find the building well alight.

Two jets and two hose reels were used to tackle the flames, and the fire is said to have been extinguished by about 4.30am.

UX060411amglobe03WEB.jpgA police spokesperson confirmed no one was injured. The owners, who were not in the bar at the time, have now been notified.

An investigation is now under way to establish the cause of the fire.

As reported in the Gazette, the bar suffered severe damage on January 17 by a blaze, blamed on faulty decorative lighting.

The venue suffered extensive smoke damage, with much of it left in a thick layer of soot and ash.

More to follow.
