A CAR worth £60,000 has been recovered by police just six hours after it was stolen.

The Audi A7 was taken during a burglary in Croxley Green on Saturday, January 22.

The car was discovered in Barnet thanks to a special 'tracking' device and ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) technology, which highlights suspicious and unsafe vehicles.

Sergeant Grant Finnie, of the Hertfordshire Police Operational Sentinel Intercept Team, which found the vehicle, said: "Unfortunately there was no driver but the victim was very happy to be reunited with his car.

"We will continue to track down criminals using ANPR technology to deny them the use of the roads in Hertfordshire."
