Police confirm Rickmansworth station in Rectory Road will close next year

RICKMANSWORTH police station is set to close next year, with all staff being relocated to a new central hub in the town centre.

A Hertfordshire police spokesperson this morning (28) confirmed to the Gazette that the station will be moved from Rectory Road to an empty office at Three Rivers House, in Northway.

The cost-cutting measure will see staff including the local crime unit (formerly CID) and the safer neighbourhood policing team based at the town centre building, from which Three Rivers also District Council (TRDC) operates.

Office space at Three Rivers House became available after the council's housing team moved out, after the TRDC's portfolio of properties was purchased by housing association, Thrive Homes.

Intervention teams based at Rickmansworth, who answer emergency calls made in the district, will be transferred to Watford Police Station, although teams will continue to patrol around the district.

More to follow.
