Nurse convicted of fake benefit claims to Three Rivers District Council

Posted by Siba Matti on Oct 20, 10 04:19 PM in Crime

A NURSE who fraudulently claimed benefits from Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has been handed a 12-month community order.

Tanya Nasir was also ordered to complete 120 hours unpaid work when she appeared at Hemel Hempstead Magistrates' Court on October 8.

The court heard how Nasir claimed benefits on the basis of living on a limited income as a single parent, and failed to declare her employment as a bank nurse with the NHS.

Evidence gathered during the counter-fraud investigation showed Nasir had been claiming the cash since October 2007.

TRDC was also awarded £500 towards prosecution costs.
