Developer Excelsior Properties Ltd says it is holding the consultation to give residents an opportunity to 'provide views or suggestions as to the appropriate redevelopment of the site'.

A proposal by Excelsior to build a block of 12 flats on the plot - part of the Green Lane Conservation Area in Maxwell Road - was unanimously rejected in June, after councillors deemed it 'detrimental to the street scene'.

The developer's initial plans to build 14 flats on the site were rejected for similar reasons last October, with a subsequent appeal dismissed, as reported in the Gazette.

Northwood ward councillor, Scott Seaman-Digby, said: "We should welcome the opportunity for the community to give their views formally.

"We should be seeking solutions that will benefit Northwood and deliver a return for the developers in the redevelopment of a site which has long been a blight on the village - both when the pub was open and since it has been demolished."

The meeting will be held at Northwood College in Maxwell Road between 10am and 4pm.

Anyone who is unable to attend can email their views to Kieran Rushe of Dalton Warner Davis, agent for Excelsior, at kr@daltonwd.co.uk
