Posted by Siba Matti on May 7, 10 06:33 PM in Local Authority

THE local elections in Three Rivers have ended with the Conservatives gaining two seats across the district.

The vote count, which took place at Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth, saw both Labour and the Liberal Democrats lose their seats in Northwick and Carpenders Park wards respectively.

However, the Lib Dems will remain in power with a majority of 30 seats.

The Conservatives now have 14, while Labour has three and the BNP has one.

Overall across the district, the turnout was 70.77 per cent.

Chief executive of TRDC, Steven Halls, returning officer, congratulated the winning councillors and offered his commiserations to the unsuccessful candidates.
