Police warn elderly not to give bank details to bogus callers

ELDERLY residents in Northwood and Rickmansworth are being warned never to give their bank or personal details to bogus cold callers.

Vulnerable people in five homes across Hertfordshire were called by someone claiming to be investigating fraud on their account yesterday (12), according to police. A number of similar incidents have been reported in the past month.

Victims have been asked to provide bank details, including pin numbers, and some offenders have visited people in person, masquerading as a police officer, to collect bank statements and credit cards.

If you have received a suspicious call, contact the police immediately on 0845 3300222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Visit www.threerivers.co.uk for more community safety information.
