AN INTERNATIONAL children's author visited a Northwood school last week to run student workshops and hold a book signing.

Rosie Rushton, the brains behind more than 40 books, spoke to year seven, eight and nine pupils at St Helen's School, in Eastbury Road, about her latest project adapting
Jane Austen classics to modern day fiction.

Ms Rushton, who started her career working for a local newspaper before her first title, Staying Cool, Surviving School, was published in 1993, shared her secrets about how to succeed as an author.

She also explained the various processes she has gone through, from pen hitting paper to seeing the finished product in print.

Elizabeth Howard, head librarian at the school, said: "Rosie gave an informative and entertaining talk, from which all the girls will be able to take valuable advice."

We'd like to hear from you.
