Jewish 'Good deed' day success
HUNDREDS of Jews gave their time to support good causes on Jewish 'Good deed' day.
Around 450 members of Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue (NPLS), in Oaklands Gate, Northwood, together with Ruislip-Northwood MP, Nick Hurd, volunteered their time on Mitzvah Day on Sunday.
About 200 people gave blood and the younger members of the synagogue entertained the community's senior members as well as creating promotional materials for fairtrade.
The synagogue's older children collected over 10 trolley loads of goods from generous shoppers at Waitrose in Maxwell Road, Northwood, to be donated to Northwood Live at Home Scheme.
Mitzvah Day organiser, Rabbi Hillel Athias-Robles, said: "In these credit crunch times it's good to know we can all still do our bit for charity by giving not cash but a little time.
"That's what Mitzvah Day is all about and I am delighted that so many people turned out to support our event."
